Cost Accountant – Education & Institutional OperationsA growing education organization is looking for a Cost Accountant to bring structure, accuracy, and financial insight to its day-to-day accounting operations. This is a great opportunity for an accountant who enjoys working with budgets, program costs, reconciliations, and financial reporting and wants to be part of an organization with a mission-driven environment.This role will work closely with finance and operational teams to understand where dollars are being spent, ensure expenses are properly allocated, and help leadership make informed financial decisions.What You'll Be DoingTrack and analyze costs associated with educational programs, departments, and operational initiativesPrepare monthly cost reports and investigate significant variancesAssist with annual budgeting and periodic forecastingReconcile general ledger accounts and supporting schedulesReview invoices and expenses for appropriate coding and departmental allocationAnalyze labor, supply, facility, and program-related expensesAssist with month-end and year-end close activitiesMaintain accurate cost and financial data within the accounting systemPrepare recurring financial reports for department leadershipPartner with non-finance teams to clarify expenses and resolve discrepanciesAssist with audits by gathering schedules, documentation, and supporting detailIdentify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy and accounting processes
